Team workshops that create lasting transformation
Immersive transformative learning workshops for teams in for-purpose, social enterprise and public sector organisations. Grounded in adult education, developmental psychology, adaptive leadership, complexity thinking and emotional intelligence.
RETHINKING TEAM DEVELOPMENT IN THE FOR-PURPOSE SECTOR
What is the most powerful way to develop the capacity of your staff?
Many for-purpose organisations feel like they don’t have time to indulge in professional learning and training.
When training is provided, it often focusses on equipping staff with knowledge or skills in the hope that these will automatically translate to improved competency and performance.
This approach may work in some sectors, however in the for-purpose sector it is not enough.
In a sector where the work is uniquely complex and challenging, where there is significant personal investment in the organisation’s mission, and where the work has direct impacts on the lives of people, developing organisational potential is not just a matter of learning new skills.
It requires:
Transformational development to increase the capacity, adaptability, resilience of staff
Ongoing development of self-awareness, emotional intelligence and relational skills across teams
A psychologically safe culture that embraces diversity and thrives in adaptive change
The for-purpose organisations who achieve sustainable impact in a complex and uncertain world, do so by properly investing in their people.
They strive to create an environment in which teams continually grow in perspective and capacity, transcend their blind spots, develop insight, capacity and resilience, and learn to embrace errors and weaknesses as fertile opportunities for growth.
This is precisely what my training workshops provide.
OUR TRAINING APPROACH
Most team workshops fail for the same reasons:
They are generic
They conceptually thin
They are disconnected from the organisation’s contextual reality
They rely on passive delivery of information, rather than transformation and integration
My approach is the opposite. Every workshop is designed and adapted to the needs of your team. Each training is conceptually deep and focuses on contextual application. Each concept is anchored with action learning.
The focus is on elevating your team and creating lasting change, rather than just providing you with information alone.
While every engagement is designed bespoke to the needs of your organisation, the work tends to cluster around these six themes.
-
Many challenges faced by for-purpose teams are adaptive. They are tangled in human values, shifting relationships, political complexity, and require people to change their beliefs and behaviours.
Whether it’s the reform agenda you're trying to implement, the culture change that isn't sticking, or continual cycles of old patterns of behaviour, we will help your team enhance its adaptive capacity for tomorrow, while today’s addressing pressing challenges.
-
For-purpose teams are operating in genuinely complex environments — where cause and effect are only visible in retrospect, where expert analysis isn't sufficient, and where the right response can only emerge through experimentation, sensemaking, and honest feedback.
Most teams either freeze in the face of that complexity or charge through it with false confidence. Both responses are costly.
Using a multidisciplinary approach, we will build your team's collective capacity to read the landscape they're actually in — and to respond with the right kind of action at the right time.
Teams leave with a shared vocabulary for navigating uncertainty together, and greater tolerance for the ambiguity that complex work inevitably demands.
-
For-purpose organisations talk about vision, purpose and values, but are often less clear about the gap between what the organisation says it stands for and how it actually operates.
This workshop takes teams through a rigorous process of defining (or redefining) what they genuinely stand for — and translating that into the observable behaviours that a values-aligned culture actually depends on.
We move from the abstract to the specific: from "we value respect" to the concrete actions that respect requires from each person in the room, in their hardest moments.
The result is not just a refreshed values statement but a living set of behavioural commitments your team can hold each other to — and a shared foundation from which culture change becomes possible.
-
Psychological safety is widely understood to be a prerequisite for high-performing teams, however creating genuine safety requires more than good intentions.
It requires teams with the relational skill to hold difficult conversations, and an organisational culture where honesty is genuinely valued over harmony.
We work with the specific conditions in your team — the conversations that aren't happening, the feedback that isn’t being shared, the trust that's been damaged and not repaired — and build the relational skills that genuine psychological safety depends on.
-
Every team has a power structure — formal and informal, visible and invisible.
Who holds power by virtue of their role. Who holds social rank by virtue of their identity, background or social capital.
We will explore how those layers of power and rank interact to determine whose voice gets heard, who takes up space, who self-censors, and who carries a disproportionate burden of the team's unspoken tensions.
In for-purpose organisations committed to equity and inclusion, the gap between espoused values and lived experience is often widest here.
Our work creates the conditions for teams to safely take an honest look at their own power dynamics.
This is not a training about equity in the abstract. It is an experiential workshop that creates real movement in how your team relates to and across difference.
-
Conflict is not the problem. Avoiding it is.
In most for-purpose teams, conflict doesn't disappear — it goes underground.
It shows up as the meeting after the meeting, the feedback that never gets given, the tension everyone can feel but no one will name.
Leaders who avoid conflict in the name of harmony are not keeping their teams safe. They are allowing dysfunction to accumulate until it surfaces as a crisis, a resignation, or a culture that has quietly stopped working.
Our work will help your team reframe conflict as information and support you to work with it when it occurs.
Your team will learn to tolerate the disequilibrium that genuine difference creates, rather than rushing to false resolution — and to use coaching conversations, honest feedback, and relational attunement as the tools for navigating conflict well.
